Site Suitability with Terrain-Based Scoring Index
To the left is the site suitability map displaying potential campground areas based on aggregate terrain-based scores of various characteristics. Sites were assessed based on elevation, slope of land, proximity to major roads, vegetation cover (including only coniferous forests, oak woodlands, and mixed), as well as vegetation health (NDVI). The higher the score, the greater suitability of the presented area. Favorable traits and suitability includes greater elevation, lower slopes of the land area, closer proximity to roads, as well as greater vegetation cover and health. All areas with an aggregate score of 0 are not displayed as they have no significance.
